NOTIS’s Community Interpreters Division presents:

HIPAA-HIPAA Hurray for Confidentiality!
Presented by Cindy Roat

What is HIPAA? Test your knowledge!

HIPAA stands for ---- (choose one)

1.   The female of a species of large gray mammals that live in rivers in sub-Saharan Africa.

2.   The Health Information Privacy Administration Act.

3.   The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.

4.   Highly Intricate Paperwork in Abundant Amounts.

Not sure? Join us for this humorous two-hour webinar to learn all about HIPAA, that 1996 federal law that governs the way everyone in health care (including interpreters and translators) handles private health information. As confidentiality is a critical element of our Code of Ethics, and as HIPAA is the law of the land regarding confidentiality in health care, it behooves us all to know this information. Whether a novice interpreter or seasoned professional, this webinar will bring you up to date on exactly what HIPAA – and confidentiality – means.
