ABOUT notiS

NOTIS is a 501(c) (6) non-profit organization and a regional chapter of the American Translators Association covering the northwest corner of the United States: Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Alaska. OBJECTIVES at a glance

  • To promote the recognition and advancement of the language professions (translators, interpreters, subtitlers, editors, and others);

  • To promote high standards and to protect and safeguard the rights and interests of language professionals;
  • To provide information, training, and outreach which will assist newcomers to the profession and enhance the abilities of established practitioners; 
  • To provide information, platforms, and venues through which members can publicize their services and find answers to their questions;

  • To inform the general public, clients, and persons in allied fields about NOTIS, ATA, and other affiliated organizations with the goal of raising awareness and respect for the value of these professions; and
  • To seek to influence public policy as it applies to language professionals.
