NOTIS’ Community Interpreters Division presents: Sold Out
Pharmacy for Medical Interpreters
Presented by Jim Ramsey and Yvonne Simpson
This four-hour training provides interpreters with an overview of pharmacy practice. Facilitated by a WA State licensed pharmacists and a certified medical interpreter, this webshop will teach participants about:
- Pharmacy Training, education, areas of practice, and specializations
- Basic pharmacology: drug types, classifications, prescribing, andtherapy
- Drug costs and insurance coverage
- Pharmacist-patient interactions
Participants will receive handouts with key pharmacy terms and will have opportunities to practice consecutive interpreting and sight translation in breakout sessions.
A webshop is just like an interactive onsite class, but held online through Zoom. During a webshop, you can ask questions and engage in discussion. You may be divided into “break-out” rooms where you’ll be working with other participants on exercises or on practicing a skill. There may be quizzes and polls. So, while there may be some PowerPoint and lecture, this is not like your typical webinar. Your full attention and participation is expected; that’s what makes it fun!
