The Northwest Literary Translators are delighted to present our long-postponed 3rd Annual Translation Slam. This year, the focus is Finnish. Three expert local Finnish-English translators will face off in front of a live audience, presenting and explaining their translations of one challenging text. No knowledge of Finnish required to attend and enjoy this event. Don't miss it!

Seasoned Seattle translators Lola Rogers, Jenni Salmi, and Mia Spangenberg will present their translations of a tricky text by acclaimed Finnish writer Pirkko Saisio. Which translator will come up with the most creative leaps and clever reconstructions, using the tools English provides? Local Nordic translator and editor Elizabeth DeNoma will guide us through a comparison of the three translators' approaches and decisions.
