WEBINAR: Translating Court Documents from French to English

Presented by Thomas West, JD, CT

In this two-hour seminar, we will answer questions like these:

  • Can the terms corporation and company be used interchangeably in English?
  • Is a limited liability company the same thing as a société anonyme? (Hint: it depends!)
  • Are all types of companies said to be incorporated, or is that word only used for corporations?
  • How should we translate société into English?
  • Does the French adjective social always refer to a société?
  • How should we translate associé into English?
  • What does quitus / décharge mean? Is it OK to translate it as discharge?

We will also discuss various French-language corporate documents, such as charters, board meeting minutes and shareholder meeting minutes, and how to translate them into English. This webinar will be presented in English.

This webinar will be recorded, and it will be available to those who missed.
