NOTIS Practice Groups

Peer-led support for exam prep, skill building, and professional growth

NOTIS practice groups offer interpreters and translators a structured, collaborative way to build and maintain their skills — whether preparing for a credential, refining techniques, or staying professionally active. Groups set their own focus and schedule.

✂️ How the Interpreter Practice Groups Work

Use the Practice Buddy Finder (below) to connect with other interpreters who share similar goals.
You’ll need at least one colleague to start or restart a group.

Step 2: Form Your Group
Create a small, self-organized team (usually 2–4 participants) and decide on your focus.

Members choose the goal, such as:

• Court or medical exam prep

• Long-form consecutive

• Simultaneous practice

• Terminology or glossary building

• Language-neutral skills (memory, delivery, note-taking)

Practice groups are participant-led. NOTIS does not assign members to groups.

Step 3: Practice
Schedule and run your sessions independently.

Interpreter groups receive access to shared practice guides and templates.
Groups may use the NOTIS Zoom account or any platform they prefer.

If using NOTIS Zoom for sessions over 40 minutes, sessions must be scheduled in advance.

After reaching out, you will receive:

• Access to the shared Google Drive folder (practice guides, templates, and resources)

• Instructions for using the NOTIS Zoom account

• Guidance on how to form or relaunch a group

• Optional check-ins or support as needed

🔔 IMPORTANT (Interpreter Groups)

Practice groups are active only when members form them themselves.
You must connect with at least one other colleague to start or restart a group.

NOTIS provides shared materials and Zoom access but does not assign members or manage group activities.
