In this language neutral webinar, participants will learn the key concepts related to Human Trafficking as well as special considerations to keep in mind when interpreting for victims and witnesses in order to provide accurate and impartial interpretation.

Topics to be covered will include:
Legal definitions
Understanding the different aspects of Human Trafficking
The organizations involved in combatting Human Trafficking
Specific Terminology and Slang
Revictimization and other issues to understand when interpreting for victims
Interpreter Ethics

Participants will receive a starter glossary and resources for language specific terms.

About the instructor: Mr. Javier Castillo, Jr has provided interpreting services for numerous U.S Attorney's Offices for federal cases involving human trafficking. He has also interpreted for judges, attorneys, and social workers from various countries in Latin America during national programs specific to human trade and trafficking.


He is president of Castillo Language Services, Inc. in Greenville, NC and is a conference interpreter, Federally Certified Court Interpreter, NC AOC certified court interpreter, Certified Medical Interpreter, (CCHI) and contract interpreter for the U.S. Department of State. Castillo has interpreted for international delegations and high-level speakers at international conferences and meeting across the United States as well in Latin America.

Castillo has provided training workshops since 2007 for court, medical, conference and community interpreters and is a frequent speaker at international and national conferences.
