This 3 day course provides 24 hours of in-person intensive training to support patient guidance outside the interpreted event. It will expand the interpreter’s knowledge base to include patient education, patient navigation and cultural competency. It will enhance professional skills allowing for better performance with patients and healthcare providers. Participants will also have the opportunity to earn 0.65 IMIA CEUs.
Dates: October 22 – 24, 2018 and December 3 – 5, 2018
Times: 9 AM to 5:30 PM daily
Cost: $500. Price is all-inclusive and covers all class materials including the current edition of the textbook, signed individual certificate of completion and light refreshments.
Pre-requisites: Applicants must have successfully completed “Bridging the Gap” or similar 40-hour medical interpreting training course (subject to approval). Participants should have at least 1 year of experience working as a medical interpreter or as a community health worker, patient navigator, para professional in health care, or patient advocate.
