This program provides 24 hours of in-person intensive training to support patient guidance outside of the interpreted event. The training expands the interpreter’s knowledge base to include patient education, patient navigation and cultural competency. The training provides the opportunity to earn 2.4 IMIA CEUs. Connecting to Care is a skills-based training that provides important professional skills that will enhance the interpreter’s daily work with patients and the treatment team.
For: Students are eligible for this course if they have completed CCHCP’s Bridging the Gap Medical Interpreter Training or an established 40 hour medical interpreter training approved by CCHCP, and have a minimum 1 year experience working as a medical interpreter or patient navigator, para professional in health care, patient advocate, or community health worker.
