It’s that time again! NOTIS is now accepting content submissions for our winter newsletter, The Northwest Linguist. The deadline for our December issue is Tuesday, November 15, 2022.

This is an excellent opportunity to put your name and your voice out there, to draw attention to your work, and to be recognized by your peers.

The Northwest Linguist is the official printed publication of the Northwest Translators & Interpreters Society, designed to share organization and industry news, useful tips and educational pieces with our members. We are currently accepting submissions in the following areas:

  • Articles or essays concerning:
    • approaches to translation
    • translation reviews
    • interpretation skills
    • local language access developments
    • legislation affecting language professionals
    • T&I technology
    • personal/professional anecdotes
  • Comics, memes, and other bits of humor
  • Translations of:
    • poem/s
    • short prose or fragments of prose
    • recipes
    • songs

Submissions should be written in English and should not exceed 850 words. Relevant images may also be submitted, alongside or independent of a written piece.

If submitting a translation, please send both the original version and the translation. Copyright notes and source references should be included as well, if applicable.

Your submissions will be evaluated by NOTIS's Northwest Linguist Committee and will be edited for content, grammar, and space limitations.

Please send submissions and any other queries to Brianna Salinas at social@notisnet.org. We look forward to publishing your work!

Best wishes,
The NW Linguist Committee at NOTIS
