To Be (or Not to Be) Translated: On Making Books Travel
In this hands-on workshop, Gabriela Adamo will share her long standing experience in making writers from South America available to readers in other languages and across the world.
What are foreign translation rights? How are decisions made regarding which books to translate? Who are the key players (facilitators and gatekeepers)? And more interestingly: how do different nationalities – distinct languages and publishing industries – shape the movements and flows on this map?
It is encouraged but not necessary to read a brief essay prior to the workshop, contact Aria Fani at ariafani@uw.edu for the essay.
