ADVANCED MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY FOR INTERPRETERS - ONLINE - SUMMER 2021 (ARCOS Institute)

Designed for those who took Medical Terminology for Interpreters and left wanting more, this class will take your knowledge of the language of healthcare to the next level. This 8-hour class will cover the following:

• A quick review of key concepts covered in Medical Terminology for Interpreters (term architecture, register, and body systems).

• The anatomy and physiology of the nervous system, the integumentary system, the immune system, and the urinary system.

• Tests, procedures, symptoms, and common conditions related to these systems.

• Creation of and practice with bilingual glossaries.

• Exercises and practice sessions.

• A final self-assessment.

This workshop will be conducted in English, with opportunities and resources available to build equivalent vocabulary in a non-English target language.

This advanced healthcare interpreting workshop is for interpreters who have taken medical terminology with Arcos Institute before [8 CE credits].

8 WA DSHS, 8 WA AOC, AND 8 CCHI professional continuing education credits have been approved for this course.
