Join Thomas E. Seguine, an active and experienced civil and private attorney and litigator, including at Appeals Court, in Washington State since 1990. Mr. Sequine will talk about the Court of Appeals process, give an overview of what kids of cases get appealed—criminal and civil. The curriculum encompasses foundational knowledge on the topic, such as its definition, variations and purposes, as well as more in-depth information about appeals from District to Superior Courts, and Superior court into the three divisions of the Court of Appeals. He will also discuss remedies afforded litigants—affirmations , reversals or remands of lower court decisions, related terminology in cases of appeals, and describe decision making by appellate courts.
