2024 Conference Grants, Round 1

When to apply?  

NOTIS is no longer accepting applications for our first round of 2024 conference grants, this time for the 2024 Annual NOTIS Conference, taking place all day in Lynnwood, Washington, on Saturday, September 14.

Purpose

This grant is intended to help NOTIS members attend NOTIS’s 2024 Annual Conference in celebration of International Translation Day.

With it, we are especially interested in helping those near the beginning of their careers, those who reside outside Western Washington, and those who work in languages of lesser diffusion — although the grants are open to all.

Through its Scholarship and Grant Program, NOTIS aims to support members by facilitating access to essential training and networking opportunities. Conference grants are designed to make conference attendance possible for members who would otherwise find it difficult.

Award

This grant will cover the full cost of conference admission, plus a little extra for travel expenses (to be spent at the grantee’s discretion).

• Student members will receive $85 ($55 admission + $30 extra)
• Individual members will receive $115 ($95 admission + $30 extra)

Eligibility & Requirements

• Applicants must be a member of NOTIS in good standing. 
• Applicants must complete the application before the deadline, answering all questions thoroughly and thoughtfully.
• Applicants who received a scholarship or grant from NOTIS in 2022 or 2023 are not eligible. 

How It Works

Note: You do not need to be registered for the conference in order to apply for the grant.

• Candidates will be evaluated anonymously by a committee using a predetermined set of objective criteria. 
• NOTIS will announce conference grant recipients by Friday, August 9, 2024. 
• If NOTIS informs you that you have received a grant, you will pay your registration fee up front and NOTIS will reimburse you within ten calendar days of receiving evidence of your registration.  

Please NOTE:

• Previous conference grant/scholarship recipients are not eligible to receive another NOTIS scholarship for a period of 2 years after winning a grant.
• Current NOTIS Board Members are not eligible.
