Glands and Seizures: a Workshop for Healthcare Interpreters
This workshop will cover two important health topics that any interpreter working in endocrinology or neurology needs to know.
Glands: This training introduces major glands of the body, their locations, functions, and terminology related to them. It will be facilitated via PowerPoint presentation and group discussion. A glossary and labeling handout will be provided.Seizures and Epilepsy: This training provides an introduction to seizures and epilepsy. We will cover some of the major causes, types, and symptoms of seizure activity as well as common diagnostic tests and treatments. It will be facilitated via PowerPoint presentation and group discussion. A glossary of common terms will be provided.

Refunds? We regret that no refunds can be given after March 1. A $10 processing fee will apply for refunds requested before March 1.
Directions? Tacoma General Hospital is located at 315 Martin Luther King Junior Way in Tacoma. Jackson Hall, where the training will take place, is located at 314, directly across the street from the main hospital.A map of the Tacoma General Campus can be found at http://www.multicare.org/tacoma-general-maps-parking/. Free parking with no time limit is available at the Baker Center Parking Garage, which is the brick building on MLK Way next to the garden courtyard. There is also free parking at the Fifth Street Garage.
CE credits? Four continuing education credits are approved by CCHI, the ATA, and from the Administrator of the Courts.
Four continuing education credits are being requested for this workshop from the Washington State DSHS, Certificates of Attendance will be awarded to all who arrive on time and stay for the entire workshop.
